Nisbets in the Community is proudly working with Community of Purpose to transform the lives and futures of local young people by supporting our partner primary schools to join Bristol Together Championships (BTC).

BTC focuses on building a tolerant and inclusive City by twinning primary schools from very different demographics. Bristol and inner-city schools are twinned with primaries from neighbouring local authorities such as South Gloucestershire, North Somerset and Bath and North-East Somerset. The children are taken to their twinned school and undertake a football coaching programme. The host school then visits the touring school and receives the same coaching programme meaning the young people experience each other’s school and community environments.

Zoe Joyner said;

“This programme is educational and through the power of sport we can ensure local children meet others from outside of their social spheres and friendship circles. This we strongly believe helps with their confidence, communication, social mobility and tolerance of others who may be culturally, ethnically, socially and financially different from them. Nisbets in the Community recognises that differences should be recognised and celebrated and is proud to be involved in a programme that helps explore the children’s passions and gifts, raises aspirations, confidence, breaks down any barriers or misconceptions and makes for a more tolerant City.

Community of Purpose, CEO, Amy Kington said;

“Nisbets is a shining example of a socially responsible business that puts people and the local community first. We are looking forward to working closely with colleagues from Nisbets in the Community so that we can transform the lives and futures of young people in our great City!

Community of Purpose CIC works with individuals, families and communities to empower people to identify assets, needs, opportunities, rights and responsibilities. Helping people plan what is needed and support them to take appropriate action. Providing the link between communities and a range of local authority and voluntary sector providers; the police, social workers and teachers. Developing activities and services to generate aspiration, confidence and address inequality.
